Remember Me

Hello!
It's been a while.
I'm horrible at keeping up with this blogging stuff.
I just don't feel like our life is exciting enough to have enough material to write about.
But, hopefully soon I will.

My sister is coming to visit this weekend.
It's her first time here in Texas.
I could not be any more excited!
We are hanging out, taking Christmas card pictures, shopping
and going to the Texas State Fair!
There should be plenty of blogging material after that.

We are also moving in 18 days.
I have packed a whole two boxes.
I need to get my act together, stat.
We find out tomorrow if we get the house we want to rent.
Fingers crossed we do.
It's the perfect little home for us right now.
And most importantly, it has a lovely backyard for Miss Callie.

Oh, and we are going to try our first round of IVF here soon.

Things My Dog Has Taught Me

Callie has been a part of our family for three weeks now.
God help me if I am the same type of parent to our children
as I am to this dog.
Here is what I have learned. It's not good.

1. I'm a helicopter mom.
This poor dog. Every time we are at the dog park I hover over her making
sure other dogs are trying to fight her. Travis keeps telling me I need to relax.
 hahah...not going to happen

2. I hate leaving her.
I don't like leaving her home alone. I know, she's a dog.
But she is stuck in the apartment and all alone. I'd much rather
spend the money and take her to daycare where she gets to play all day.

3.  The best of the best
I only want the best stuff for her.
Whether it's food, toys, daycare, you  name it, it has to be awesome for this girl.

Seriously people, how am I this obsessed and neurotic about our dog?!
I just love her to pieces and can't imagine not having her around.

1 Year

This weekend marks one year since we moved here to Texas.
What a year it has been!
There have been some really hard times this past year,
but overall I am so glad we made this decision.
I think I would have always regretted not moving here and giving it a try.

I have mentioned before, I absolutely love the area we live in.
Everything we could ever need or want is within a 5 minute drive.
We have also made some really great friends out here.
Adopting Callie has certainly been a huge highlight of our life here in Texas.

Travis has worked his ass of this last year, and last Saturday he was
finally rewarded for all his hard work.
He got a nice big promotion!
I am so proud of him, and this is a very well deserved promotion.
It has been a lovely way to end our first year here in Texas.

Don't get me wrong, I miss my family and friends back in California
very, very much. But we are finally settling in to life here in Texas.
My sister is coming to visit in a few weeks and I just can't wait.

We are hoping this next year here has many more blessings in store for us!
