This post is a bit random, but I'm wondering if anyone can offer any insight.
For the past 2.5 - 3 months Travis has been breaking out in hives.
Horribly.
Not just a few here and there, we are taking these bad boys cover his arms, legs and chest.
His lips swell to size that would make the Real Housewives jealous.
They itch, make his body swell and he is completely miserable.
Nothing in his "environment" has changed, he isn't eating anything new, no new body wash or detergent.
He isn't taking any new medication.
We really have no idea why he is breaking out, we are assuming it's from stress.
He talked to his doctor about it, and he told him there wasn't much he could do.
He takes Zantac and Zyrtec, but they don't help too much.
Last night however it got really bad.
His lips were huge. The biggest I've ever seen.
His whole face started swelling.
His entire chest and back were covered in hives.
He even started losing his voice as his throat was swelling. Good times.
Has anyone dealt with anything like this?
Or do you know any ways to easy the pain and discomfort?
He tried an oatmeal bath, but it didn't do much.
He is going back to see his doctor to discuss this, but considering it's happening nearly
every single day, any insight you may have would be greatly appreciated.
Is he developing a food allergy? I broke out in hives when I had my iodine CT scan, and they told me I was allergic to shellfish, too. I wonder if he's developed some sort of food allergy...
ReplyDeleteMy husband had the same thing happen to him about 6 years ago. He had just switched to a new job, we were int he middle of buying a condo, and we were planning our wedding. It started int he torso, moved all the way out to arms, legs, etc. and then kind of slowly trickled back and disappeared...from start to finish it was about 6 weeks, if I remember correctly. His doctor attributed it to stress, and I can see why. I actually know a few other people who have had it happen as well. I'm so sorry your husband is going through this! Hopefully it ends soon...blah!
ReplyDeleteThis happened to my BIL when he moved from CA to Boston. It was a pretty huge decision for him and his girlfriend at the time and the drs attributed it to stress too. Unfortunately that's all I know and I'm not sure what helped but hope it goes away soon!

ReplyDeleteAnyway . . . it could be anything from stress to food to laundry detergent. Have you change laundry products? Does he take Benadryl when he has a flare up? Does he have an epi pen? I've had a couple of severe allergic reactions (one involved 911 and a ride to the ER in a loud, sirened truck) & they can be as little as annoying to as bad as dangerous. Hope he gets relief fast.
